How to Get to Paracas
Paracas is most commonly reached from Lima by road or via Pisco Airport for domestic arrivals. Regular intercity buses from Lima and private shuttles bring most visitors; Pisco airport handles limited domestic flights and fast transfers to town.
Pisco - Capitán FAP Renán Elías Olivera (PIO): Pisco Airport is the closest airport to Paracas; on arrival you can reach Paracas town by taxi or transfer in about 20-30 minutes. Taxi fares into Paracas are modest (roughly S/30-S/60, depending on vehicle and luggage) and transfers are commonly arranged by hotels.
Lima - Jorge Chávez (LIM): Most international visitors arrive at Lima. From Lima there are frequent intercity buses to Paracas (departing from major bus terminals in Lima) with journey times around 3.5-4.5 hours; typical one-way fares are roughly S/25-S/60 (US$7-US$18) depending on the company and level of service. Private shuttles and tour transfer vans are also common (higher cost, door-to-door service ~US$40-80).
Train: There is no passenger rail service to Paracas.
Bus: Long-distance buses (Cruz del Sur and several local operators) run Lima-Paracas regularly; buses depart from Lima’s main long‑distance terminals and arrive at Paracas bus terminal near the town. Local colectivos and short taxi rides get you from the terminal to hotels or the port for boat trips to the Ballestas Islands (boat tours depart from Paracas port).
How to Get Around Paracas #
Paracas town is small and easy to walk around near the waterfront. Tours to the Ballestas Islands depart from the harbor; small boats and tour operators are the usual way to visit the islands and coastal reserves. Colectivos, taxis and minivan services connect Paracas with Pisco and long-distance buses to Lima and other cities. Local transfers and short trips are generally inexpensive, but tour prices vary by operator.
