How to Get to Papallacta

Papallacta (Napo Province) is an Andean hot-springs village east of Quito and is reached almost exclusively by road from Quito (Mariscal Sucre International Airport). Expect a 1.5-2 hour drive through mountain roads; shuttles, buses and private transfers are the normal options.

By Air

Mariscal Sucre International Airport, Quito (UIO): Quito is the main gateway for Papallacta. From Quito airport or the city centre the drive to Papallacta takes about 1.5-2 hours (roughly 70-80 km) depending on traffic and weather; private transfers and taxis for the route commonly cost about USD 25-50.

Alternative (Ambato/Latacunga): For some approaches from the central highlands, regional airports or bus stations in Ambato or Latacunga can be used as part of a road route, but Quito is by far the most common international arrival point for Papallacta.

By Train & Bus

Train: Ecuador’s rail services are limited for passenger tourism and do not provide a direct, practical rail route to Papallacta.
