Panagia Ekatontapiliani church

Panagia Ekatontapiliani, often called the Church of 100 Doors, is a major Byzantine church complex in Parikia on the island of Paros, Greece, with origins traditionally dated to the 4th century and substantial 6th-century fabric. It is one of the island’s principal religious monuments and a long-standing pilgrimage site.

The complex comprises a main church, subsidiary chapels and an early baptistery; visitors come to see the basilica plan, surviving Byzantine masonry and liturgical spaces. The name refers to a large, complex ecclesiastical ensemble rather than a literal count of doors.

Tradition links the foundation to early Christian patronage in the Aegean, and the building has been repaired and modified in later centuries while retaining important early Byzantine features. It continues to function as an active church and focal point for religious festivals.

The church is located in Parikia, the principal port and town of Paros, on the island’s northwest coast and is within easy walking distance of the ferry terminal.
