A major botanical garden and public park in Frankfurt am Main, established in 1871 and covering an extensive area of parkland and glasshouse collections. It is one of Germany’s best-known botanical institutions.
The garden was laid out in the late 19th century by Heinrich Siesmayer and opened to the public in 1871. It has since been expanded and modernized with new display houses and visitor facilities while retaining its original layout as a botanical and recreational space.
Situated in Frankfurt’s Westend district west of the central business district, the Palmengarten lies within easy reach of the city centre and local public transport.

Palmengarten is served by Frankfurt public transport. The nearest tram stop is Palmengarten/Hauptfriedhof (lines vary); several S-Bahn and U-Bahn connections reach nearby Hauptbahnhof and then a short tram or bus ride to Siesmayerstraße.

- Buy a combined daytime greenhouse + evening concert ticket if offered; the palm houses host summer concerts and events.
- Enter via Siesmayerstraße to see the main greenhouse complex first, then work outward into the outdoor gardens.
