Palace of the Argentine National Congress

The Palace of the Argentine National Congress (Palacio del Congreso) is the seat of Argentina’s bicameral National Congress, located in central Buenos Aires. The monumental building was completed and inaugurated in 1906 and is notable for its large central dome and formal façade.

The complex houses the two legislative chambers - the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate - along with offices, committee rooms and public galleries for visitors and parliamentary observers. Architectural features include a prominent dome, grand staircases and richly decorated interior halls that reflect its national role.

Construction commenced around the end of the 19th century and involved multiple architects during its execution; the finished building has been the centre of Argentina’s national legislative processes since the early 20th century. Over time the site has undergone restorations and adaptations to accommodate modern legislative needs.

The palace stands facing the Plaza del Congreso in the central district of Buenos Aires, within the city’s governmental and historic quarter.
