Pagae
Archaeological Site Ancient Attic port town near western Megara
Ancient harbour site west of Megara on the Attica coast with archaeological remains; visitors survey the ruins and coastal viewpoints tied to Classical-era maritime activity.
Pagae (also Pegai) was the ancient seaport of the city-state of Megara, situated on the Saronic Gulf in western Attica. It functioned as Megara’s maritime outlet in antiquity and features in classical sources as a harbour settlement.
Remains at the site relate to harbour installations and coastal fortifications typical of a regional port-town; the location served naval and commercial roles rather than monumental or large-scale civic building programmes. Today it is mainly of interest for its archaeological and historical associations rather than as a large visible monument.
Pagae lies on the Saronic Gulf coast in western Attica, on the western side of the Isthmus of Corinth region of Greater Athens.
