The festival draws on centuries-old Yoruba traditions; the sacred grove contains shrines, sculptures and paths used for rituals and pilgrimages and has been protected and celebrated by local custodians.

During the festival the grove and adjacent riverbank fill with drummers, masked performers, priests and devotees making offerings. Expect a strong ritual focus - libations, prayers, and processions to the river - alongside an artisan market, contemporary art installations and lively night vigils that turn the grove into an immersive cultural space.
