Sape is a fishing village in the far east of Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara. A fairly nondescript place itself, Sape provides access for those visiting nearby Komodo Island and neighboring Flores.
Sape consists of a fishing village and a nearby harbor on the eastern tip of East Sumbawa. If you have time, a look at the fishing village is worthwhile. Workmen can be seen building new boats in the fishermen’s complex.
Sape Harbor is the last stop for trips to Komodo Island and the excellent diving that exists there - cruise boats leave here regularly for the eight-hour trip. You can also get across to Labuanbajo in Flores from Sape by ferry, a journey that takes most of the night.
