A small island in Lami Harbour just off the eastern side of Fiji’s main island Viti Levu, located close to the capital, Suva. It is a compact island used historically for a range of local purposes and visited by residents and day-trippers.

The island has a history of use for quarantine and other colonial-era facilities during the 19th and early 20th centuries, and later saw intermittent use for administrative and security purposes. Over time it has also been used for local recreation.

Situated in Lami Harbour immediately north of Suva, the island lies within the Central Division of Fiji and is a short boat ride from Suva’s wharves and Lami township.

Nukulau is a small island in Laucala Bay close to Suva (Fiji’s capital). The usual way to get there is by boat or private water taxi from Suva’s waterfront/harbour; it is a short boat trip from the capital and trips are arranged from Suva rather than by scheduled public ferry.

Head out from Suva in the early morning when winds are lighter and the harbour is calmer; that usually gives the smoothest crossing to Nukulau and clearer water for snorkeling.
There's no regular public ferry or on‑island facilities - most visitors arrive by private boat or a prearranged water taxi from Suva, so book pickup/return times with your skipper before you land.
Plan your visit as a day trip only: there's no accommodation on the island and limited services, so confirm transport and timings to avoid being stranded when conditions change.
