Nordkirchen Castle

Schloss Nordkirchen is an 18th-century Baroque palace in Nordkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, known for its symmetrical layout, water features and large landscaped grounds. It is often referred to regionally as the “Versailles of Westphalia” because of its formal axial design and park setting.

The main palace comprises a central corps de logis flanked by wings and pavilions; visitors commonly tour interior state rooms and walk the surrounding grounds. The estate includes a prominent water-filled moat and formal gardens with avenues and canals that emphasize long sightlines across the property.

The complex was constructed in the 18th century in the Baroque style and has remained a prominent architectural landmark in the region. Over time the buildings and grounds have been preserved and adapted for public access and cultural uses.

The palace stands in the village of Nordkirchen in the Coesfeld district, set within an agricultural landscape roughly east of the city of Münster in North Rhine-Westphalia.
