Groningen’s Noorderplantsoen runs as a linear city park with ponds, tree‑lined paths and lawns; visitors picnic, jog, attend summer concerts and drop into nearby cafés.
Noorderplantsoen is a public park immediately north of Groningen city centre, developed on the site of former 19th century fortifications and moat works.
The park is linear in layout with winding paths, ponds, mature trees, lawns and seating, and it is popular for walking, picnics and informal recreation year-round. A small bandstand and open areas host events and performances.
Each August the park hosts the Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival, which brings street theatre, music and cultural programming to the park.
Noorderplantsoen sits directly adjacent to Groningen’s central districts, within easy walking distance of the city centre and public transport hubs.
