How to Get to Neuland Colony#
Neuland Colony lies in Paraguay’s sparsely populated Gran Chaco (Boquerón Department) and is reached almost entirely by road. The common route is via Asunción (ASU) with a long overland bus or private transfer into the Chaco; travel times are long and services are infrequent.
Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU): ASU in Asunción is the main international gateway for Paraguay. From Asunción you can reach Boquerón Department by long-distance bus (overnight services) or by hiring private transfer; travel to the Boquerón interior typically requires further overland travel and can take many hours.
Mariscal Estigarribia (MCS): Mariscal Estigarribia has a small airport serving regional flights and military traffic; it is the closest airfield to central Boquerón but commercial services are limited. If a regional flight is available, arrange onward ground transport in advance as distances in the Chaco are large and roads can be rough.
Train: Paraguay has no active national passenger rail network; rail travel is not an option.
Bus: Long-distance bus companies operate routes from Asunción to towns in Boquerón (e.g., Filadelfia). Buses from Asunción take several hours to a full day depending on destination; services are less frequent than in the east and schedules can change-buy tickets at Asunción’s bus terminal and allow extra time for connections.

- Local buses/taxis (Low (local currency)) - Within the Chaco, short local bus services or shared taxis may connect colonies and towns, but frequencies and comfort are basic. Expect simpler vehicles and intermittent timetables.
- 4x4 / self-drive (Fuel / rental costs vary) - If you have suitable vehicle and experience with remote roads, self-driving is possible but requires planning-fuel, spares and navigation are essential in sparsely serviced areas.
- Cycling (limited) (-) - Cycling is occasionally used for very local trips inside colonies but distances between services are large and roads can be harsh-only for experienced cyclists with support.
- Walking - Walking is practical within the colony for short errands and visiting neighbours, but distances to other towns are generally too large for walking as transport.
