Naveta d'Es Tudons

Naveta d’Es Tudons is a prehistoric megalithic chamber tomb (a naveta) on the island of Menorca in the Balearic Islands, Spain, dating to roughly the first millennium BCE. It is one of the island’s most recognizable prehistoric monuments.

The structure is a compact, boat-shaped stone building with a corbelled interior chamber and a low external profile. Its intact outer masonry and clear silhouette make it the primary example used to illustrate the local naveta type of funerary architecture.

Constructed in the pre-Roman Iron Age period, the monument was used as a collective burial place; excavations have revealed human remains and grave goods consistent with prehistoric funerary practice on Menorca. Archaeological work and conservation have left the visible stone superstructure largely intact.

Sited on Menorca’s landscape, the naveta sits inland from the island’s northern coast in the western part of Menorca, within the Balearic Islands autonomous community of Spain. It is located close to local roads and is a short drive from the island’s main towns.
