Navagio

Navagio (Shipwreck Beach) is a small coastal cove on the island of Zakynthos in the Ionian Islands, known for a rusting shipwreck that lies on its sands and the steep limestone cliffs surrounding the bay. The contrast of white sand, blue water and the wreck makes it one of Greece’s most photographed coastal scenes.

The beach itself is enclosed by cliffs and is accessible only by boat, while a nearby cliff-top viewpoint on the plateau provides panoramic views of the cove and wreck. The site is a major tourist attraction and is typically visited as part of boat tours around the island.

The wreck sits on the narrow beach within the sheltered cove and has become a defining visual feature. The cliffs around the bay rise to roughly 200 metres, forming a steep amphitheatre that frames the beach.

Navagio lies on the north-western coast of Zakynthos within the Ionian Islands and is reached by sea from the island’s harbours and excursion operators.
