National Archaeological Museum of Sibaritide

The National Archaeological Museum of Sibaritide is a regional archaeological museum in Sibari, Calabria, housing finds from the ancient Greek cities of Sybaris and Thurii. It presents material unearthed in local excavations that document Greek and subsequent settlements on the Gulf of Taranto.

Exhibit highlights focus on pottery, sculpture fragments and funerary finds recovered from the Sibari plain and nearby sites; displays are organized to show local urban life and trade connections. The layout is compact and oriented to complement a visit to the adjacent archaeological park.

Collections were assembled from archaeological excavations carried out in the 19th and 20th centuries and from finds recovered in the surrounding area; the museum preserves and interprets those materials for study and display. Over time the museum has served as the primary repository for regional Greek-period artifacts.

The museum sits in the locality of Sibari, near the archaeological park of the same name on Calabria’s Ionian coast, close to the town of Cassano allo Ionio.
