MUŻA

MUŻA is Malta’s national community art museum, located in the Auberge d’Italie in the capital area. The museum opened in its current form in 2018 to present the national collections in a purpose-adapted historic building.

Galleries present Malta’s national art holdings alongside international loans and rotating contemporary exhibitions; the museum also runs education and community programmes. Visitor facilities include exhibition halls and spaces for temporary shows within the adapted auberge complex.

MUŻA was established as the national art museum to consolidate and display Malta’s fine art collections and to broaden public access. The museum occupies a 16th-century Knights’ auberge that has been adapted for museum use while retaining significant historic fabric.

The museum sits in the central Valletta/Floriana area near the Grand Harbour on Malta’s main island, within short walking distance of other heritage sites in the capital region.
