Museum Küppersmühle

Museum Küppersmühle is a museum of modern and contemporary art in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, housed in a converted riverside industrial mill. The museum is known for both its collection and the architect-led conversion of the mill building.

Galleries display a permanent collection of postwar and contemporary works alongside regularly changing temporary exhibitions. Exhibition spaces are arranged across several floors and are used for monographic shows, thematic presentations and contemporary commissions.

The mill complex was adapted for museum use in a late 20th century redevelopment of Duisburg’s Inner Harbour and reopened after conversion in 1999. The conversion was carried out by the architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron and is considered a key element of the museum’s identity.

The museum sits on the Innenhafen waterfront in Duisburg, adjacent to redeveloped harbourfront promenades and other cultural institutions. It is accessible from central Duisburg and is part of the city’s cultural quarter.
