Museo Poldi Pezzoli is a house-museum and art museum in central Milan formed from the private collection of 19th-century collector Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli. It preserves both the collector’s paintings and decorative arts and the historic interior arrangement of the palazzo.
The collection concentrates on European painting, northern Italian and Lombard works, decorative arts, and historic arms and armor displayed in period rooms. The museum is compact and visited as a combined experience of art and historic interiors.
Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli assembled the collection in the 19th century and bequeathed it to the city to form a public museum; the house layout and rooms reflect the original display intent.
