Museo Archeologico Nazionale d'Abruzzo

The Museo Archeologico Nazionale d’Abruzzo is the principal archaeological museum for the Abruzzo region, located in the city of Chieti and focused on pre-Roman and Roman finds. It preserves and displays artifacts recovered across Abruzzo that document Italic, Etruscan and Roman occupation.

Permanent displays arrange material by period and site, with pottery, funerary stelae, inscriptions and sculptural pieces that illustrate local cultures from prehistory through the Roman era. A highlight is a monumental stone statue from the region that draws significant scholarly and visitor attention.

Collections were formed from regional excavations and civic antiquarian deposits and have been curated to represent Abruzzo’s archaeological sequence. The museum’s holdings reflect both rural and urban settlement patterns in the region across many centuries.

Situated in Chieti in the Abruzzo region, the museum is accessible from the city centre and serves as the main public repository for archaeological material from the surrounding province.
