Musée Picasso

The Musée Picasso in Paris is a museum dedicated to the works and archives of Pablo Picasso, housed in the 17th-century Hôtel Salé in the Marais quarter. The museum holds one of the major public collections of Picasso’s paintings, sculptures, ceramics and archival material.

Galleries display paintings, sculptures, ceramics and drawings spanning Picasso’s career alongside documents and photographs from his archive. Rotating exhibitions and loans supplement the permanent holdings, and displays are arranged across period rooms and refurbished gallery spaces.

The French state acquired a significant Picasso collection in the 20th century, and the Musée Picasso was established at the Hôtel Salé, opening to the public in the 1980s; the museum underwent a major renovation and reopened in 2014. The collection and archives were built from donations, purchases and bequests over decades.

Set in the Marais in Paris’s 3rd arrondissement, the museum sits within walking distance of Place des Vosges and other central attractions, and is well served by Paris public transport.
