How to Get to Mürzsteg
Mürzsteg is best reached via rail to nearby hubs (for example Mürzzuschlag or Bruck an der Mur) or via Graz, then a short taxi, bus or drive to the village. A car gives the greatest flexibility for accessing mountain roads and trailheads.
Graz Airport (GRZ): From Graz Airport take the shuttle bus to Graz Hauptbahnhof in around 20-30 minutes for approximately €6-€8; taxi rides to Graz cost about €25-€40. From Graz or nearby stations drive or take regional buses toward Mürzsteg; the final approach is usually by car or taxi.
Vienna International Airport (VIE): ÖBB Railjet trains connect Vienna and Graz in about 2½-3 hours (fares roughly €20-€50 depending on advance purchase). A longer drive or a combination of rail and regional bus/taxi is required from larger hubs to reach Mürzsteg.
Train: ÖBB serves regional hubs such as Bruck an der Mur and Mürzzuschlag (both real stations) which are the closest major railheads for the Mürzsteg area; from there a short taxi or bus connection reaches local villages. Regional train fares are distance-based and modest for short journeys.
