How to Get to Murray Falls #

From Ingham and Cardwell, follow the Bruce Highway (A1) and take the local turnoffs to Girramay National Park and the Murray Falls picnic area. The falls are roughly 30-40 minutes’ drive from Cardwell and about 90 minutes from Townsville. There is no regular public transport to the picnic area; a private vehicle is recommended.

  • Go early in the day - the falls are in Girramay National Park and mornings have softer light and fewer flies.
  • The main viewing platform is short walk from the car park (a few hundred metres); the paths can be muddy after rain so avoid the heavy wet season.
  • Combine a trip to Murray Falls with the wider Wet Tropics drives - nearby Rainforest Discovery Centre at CCRC is worth a stop.
