Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism

The Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism is a museum and research centre in central Munich that examines Nazism, its local roots and national consequences. It opened in 2015 as a municipal project to document and study this period.

The permanent exhibition presents archival documents, photographs and multimedia displays that follow the political, social and cultural developments that led to National Socialism and show its impact on victims and Munich’s civic life. The centre also runs temporary exhibitions, public programmes and educational workshops aimed at schools and adult visitors.

Established by the City of Munich and civil society groups, the centre was created to provide a dedicated, research-based public forum about Munich’s role in the development of National Socialism. Its programming is organized around documentation, scholarly research and outreach.
