Munich Airport

Terminal 1 is used by many non‑alliance and low‑cost carriers and is split into several modules; Terminal 2 is the base for Lufthansa and many Star Alliance partners and includes a connected satellite concourse for additional gates. Both terminals offer full passenger processing (check-in, security, passport control) and a broad range of retail and dining options.

Munich Airport is connected to the city centre by frequent S-Bahn rail services (S1 and S8) with journey times to central Munich of roughly 35-45 minutes. There are also long‑distance coaches, regional buses, taxis and app-based ride services at the airport. Driving into the city follows the A92 and A9 motorways; road times vary with traffic.

Munich offers extensive passenger facilities including multiple airline lounges (notably Lufthansa), pay‑per‑use and airline lounges, a wide choice of restaurants and shops both landside and airside, free Wi‑Fi with registration and time limits, plentiful charging points, luggage storage/left‑luggage services, and accessibility assistance. Showers are available in several lounges and some hotels on the airport campus.

For long layovers: day rooms are available at on-site hotels; several airline lounges offer shower facilities for passengers with access.
