How to Get to Mudlo National Park #
Mudlo National Park is accessed from the Gympie/Kilkivan region. From Gympie, follow the Bruce Highway north to Mary Valley Road (toward Kilkivan), then local council roads toward the Mudlo area; expect some unsealed and rough sections in the final approach. The nearest significant town with services is Kilkivan (approximately 40-60 minutes by car from the park boundary). Mobile reception is limited; plan accordingly.
Tips for Visiting Mudlo National Park #
- Use a high-clearance vehicle on the last unsealed approach roads - parts of the access are rough and can become impassable after heavy rain.
- There are no formal facilities or marked campgrounds; treat visits as remote bushwalking and pack out all waste.
- Carry a paper topographic map or offline GPS - mobile reception is patchy in parts of the park.
- Late winter (August-September) brings clear days and excellent wildflower displays on the ridges.
Best Time to Visit Mudlo National Park #
Best visited in the cooler, drier months when scrubby eucalypt ridgelines are accessible and insects and afternoon storms are reduced.
