How to Get to Mrčara#
Mrčara is reached by private boat from Lastovo (the main harbour is in Ubli) or by day trips operating from Lastovo town. Boats from Lastovo or the nearby Pelješac peninsula are the practical option; there is no ferry service from Dubrovnik. Trips typically take 30-90 minutes depending on departure point and weather.
Tips for Visiting Mrčara#
- Visit in late afternoon to see the light fall across the granite walls - the colour shifts noticeably over an hour.
- Bring binoculars: the island is tiny but attracts seabirds and occasional seals; the shore is best for sightings.
- If approaching by boat from Lastovo, ask the skipper to tie up off the leeward side; the windward shore is rocky and exposed.
