Mount Stromlo is a low mountain near Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory notable for its long association with astronomy and for local recreational facilities. The site combines historic observatory buildings with extensive forested slopes used for outdoor sports.
The mountain’s main attractions are the historic Mount Stromlo Observatory buildings and the adjoining forest park. The park offers a network of mountain-biking trails, walking tracks and lookouts within a short drive of central Canberra, and the observatory compound is often visited for its heritage and interpretive information.
