Mount Ngauruhoe is a prominent volcanic cone in Tongariro National Park on New Zealand’s North Island, rising to about 2,291 m (7,516 ft). It is a young cone on the flanks of the larger Tongariro volcanic complex and is one of the country’s most recognizable volcanic landforms.

The near-perfect conical shape and stark slopes make it a popular photographic subject and a technical climb for experienced walkers.
