How to Get to Mount Jerusalem National Park #
From Murwillumbah (about 25-35 km away) drive inland on the Tweed Valley Way and then follow local roads toward the Mount Jerusalem area - the park is roughly 30-40 minutes’ drive from Murwillumbah. The nearest larger centres are Tweed Heads and Byron Bay (both about 60-90 minutes by car). There is no public transport directly to the park; a private vehicle is the easiest way to reach trailheads and car parks.
Tips for Visiting Mount Jerusalem National Park #
- Approach from the Tweed Valley side (via Murwillumbah) to avoid the steeper, narrower roads from the coastal plain.
- Take insect repellent during late spring and summer; parts of the park are subtropical rainforest with dense undergrowth.
- Most visitors follow the short Summit Track for good views - skip the long detours if time is tight; the best vantage points are within 1-2 km of the car park.
