Moulins Cathedral

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Moulins is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the town of Moulins in the Allier department, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. It serves as the seat of the Bishop of Moulins and is noted for its late medieval and early Renaissance fabric.

The interior contains a prominent painted triptych from the late 15th century by the anonymous Master of Moulins and surviving medieval stained glass and furnishings. The building combines Gothic structural elements with later decorative work that dates broadly to the 15th and 16th centuries.

Construction of the present building dates to the late medieval period, replacing earlier church structures on the site. Over time the cathedral acquired notable furnishings and artworks and became the episcopal seat for the local diocese.

The cathedral sits in the historic center of Moulins, Allier, in central France, within easy walking distance of the town’s other civic landmarks and museums.
