Monte Terminillo

Monte Terminillo is a mountain massif in the central Apennines of Lazio, Italy, with peaks rising to roughly 2,200 m. It is a well-known local ski and hiking area serving the Rieti province and visitors from Rome.

In winter the mountain hosts downhill and cross-country ski runs plus lift-served slopes; in summer a network of trails and mule tracks provides access to alpine meadows and summit ridges. The area is used for day trips and weekend mountain recreation by regional visitors.

The massif is part of the Apennine chain and has long been used for seasonal pastoralism and, more recently, organized mountain tourism and sports. Facilities and trails expanded through the 20th century to support both winter and summer visitors.

Monte Terminillo lies northeast of Rome and a short drive from the town of Rieti, rising above the surrounding Rieti valley and forming a prominent local highland in central Italy.
