Monte Saccarello is a mountain in the Maritime Alps on the border between Italy and France, with a summit at about 2,201 m. It is the highest elevation in the Liguria region of Italy and part of the Alpine chain that runs along the Franco-Italian frontier.
Trails along the alpine ridges connect to long-distance routes that cross the Maritime Alps; the summit area provides panoramic views of alpine valleys on both sides of the border. The terrain is typical high-Alpine with rocky ridges and alpine meadows at higher elevations.
The massif has served historically as a borderland between Italian and French valleys and has featured in local pastoral and mountain-transit use. Modern access is via mountain roads and footpaths used by hikers and mountaineers.
Monte Saccarello sits on the crest of the Maritime Alps, straddling the border region between southeastern France and northwestern Italy, with nearest settlements in the coastal hinterlands and alpine valleys.

How to Get to Monte Saccarello #
From Italy, the usual access is via SP453 from Monesi di Mendatica or via the Colle di Tenda road from the Ligurian side; the French side is reachable from La Brigue. Nearest sizable towns are Sanremo (Italy) and Sospel (France); parking is available at mountain trailheads and passes. Trails vary from moderate to steep; alpine footwear recommended.

- Take the summit ridge route early in the day to avoid strong afternoon mistral winds coming off the Ligurian Sea.
- From the summit cell phone reception is patchy; download offline maps and route notes before the final climb.
