Monte Cevedale
Mountain High Alpine summit in the Ortler-Cevedale group
Monte Cevedale sits in the Ortler Alps on the Lombardy-Trentino fringe; mountaineers and ski‑tourers come for glacier ascents, alpine huts and wide summit panoramas.
Monte Cevedale is a high mountain in the Ortles-Cevedale group of the Central Eastern Alps, with its principal summit, Cima Cevedale, at 3,769 metres.
The mountain is approached by glacier routes and high alpine trails; climbers commonly combine it with neighbouring peaks in multi-day mountaineering itineraries. Ski touring is popular in winter and spring where snow conditions and avalanche safety permit.
The summits were explored during the 19th-century period of Alpine mountaineering and have since formed part of established alpine routes in the region. Local refuges and marked routes developed to support ascents in both summer and winter seasons.
Monte Cevedale sits on the watershed between the regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and Lombardy in northern Italy, within the broader Alpine chain and accessible from mountain passes and valley towns in both provinces.
