Monte Cavo is a volcanic-tuff mountain in the Alban Hills of Lazio, Italy, rising to roughly 950 metres and overlooking the Rome metropolitan area. It has archaeological and historical significance dating back to the ancient Latin communities.
The summit provides panoramic views over the Alban Hills and towards Rome and the surrounding countryside. Traces of historic pilgrimage and sanctuary use are part of the site’s archaeological interest.
In antiquity it was the site of the temple of Jupiter Latiaris and a central place for the Latin festival Feriae Latinae; the mountain retained cultural and religious significance through Roman times and into later periods.
Monte Cavo lies in the Alban Hills, approximately to the southeast of central Rome within the Lazio region, and is accessible by road from nearby towns in the Castelli Romani area.

How to Get to Monte Cavo #
Monte Cavo is reached from the Castelli Romani towns. By car, follow the SP31/SP217 roads from Frascati or Ariccia; the summit road leads up to the parking area. Public transport: buses run from Rome to Frascati/Ariccia, from which local routes or taxis are required to reach the hill.
