Mont Donon

Mont Donon is a prominent hill in the northern Vosges region of northeastern France, reaching approximately 1,009 metres and serving as a local high point and viewpoint. The summit area combines natural scenery with traces of ancient human activity.

Walkers visit for the panoramic vistas across the Rhine plain and nearby ranges, and for the short hikes through forested slopes to the summit. The hilltop contains archaeological remains and traces of ancient ritual use dating to pre-Roman and Roman periods.

Historically the site has been used across multiple periods, with archaeological evidence indicating ritual or sanctuary functions in antiquity and continued human presence in later times. The summit area has also attracted 19th and 20th-century visitors for its views and prominence.

Mont Donon lies in the Grand Est region of France within the Vosges massif and is accessible from nearby towns in the Bas-Rhin and Moselle departments.
