Moncalieri Castle

Moncalieri Castle is a historic castle and former royal residence in Moncalieri, Piedmont, near Turin, with medieval origins and later Savoyard alterations. The site forms part of the complex of royal residences associated with the House of Savoy.

Originating as a medieval fortress in the Middle Ages, the castle was acquired and remodeled by the Savoy family into a ducal and royal residence over successive centuries. Its functions evolved from military stronghold to ceremonial and residential use under Savoy rule, and it later became a preserved historic site included among Savoy residences recognized by UNESCO.

The castle crowns a hill at Moncalieri on the southern outskirts of the Turin metropolitan area in Piedmont, perched above the Po River plain and approximately 10 kilometers south of central Turin.
