The Monastery of Yuste is a Hieronymite monastery in Cuacos de Yuste, Extremadura, Spain, founded in the early 15th century and set in a rural valley. It became internationally known as the retirement residence of Emperor Charles V, who lived and died there in 1558.
Today the small monastic complex includes the church, cloister, monastic cells and the specially preserved imperial apartments associated with Charles V, which are presented as a museum space. Visitors commonly tour the cloister, the emperor’s rooms and the monastery’s gardens.
