Monasterio de Santa María de la Rábida

The Monasterio de Santa María de la Rábida is a Franciscan monastery near Palos de la Frontera in Huelva province, Andalusia, Spain, historically associated with Columbus’s preparations for his 1492 voyage. The complex is modest in scale but important for its historical associations.

Inside the monastery visitors find a church, cloister and exhibition spaces that interpret the site’s role in late 15th-century maritime activity and Columbus’s interactions with local seafarers and patrons.
