Mokrice Castle

A medieval hilltop castle in the settlement of Mokrice in the Municipality of Brežice, Slovenia, originating in the Middle Ages and sited to overlook the surrounding valley.

The complex presents a restored castle core set within terraced grounds and parkland. Public-facing facilities include hospitality and event spaces alongside walks and viewpoints across the valley. The site is compact and visited for its architecture, landscaped grounds and panoramic outlooks rather than for large museum displays.

Erected in the medieval period as a fortified residence, the castle was altered and repaired in later centuries to serve residential and representational functions. In recent decades parts of the complex have been adapted for hospitality and events while retaining historic fabric.

Perched above the settlement of Mokrice near the Slovenian-Croatian border, the castle lies in eastern Slovenia close to the town of Brežice and the Sava river valley.
