Merig is a small island in Torba Province in northern Vanuatu, part of the Banks Islands group. The island is one of many low-lying islands and islets that form the archipelago in Vanuatu’s northern waters.
As with many islands in the Banks group, Merig’s landscape is dominated by coastal fringing reefs and tropical vegetation; human settlement is typically small or seasonal. The island is accessed by local boat services from larger nearby islands.
Geographically Merig lies in the northern Vanuatu island chain and is administered within Torba Province.
