Mellifont Abbey is a 12th-century Cistercian monastery ruin near Drogheda in County Louth, Ireland, founded in 1142 and the first of its order in Ireland. The site contains substantial medieval masonry and architectural fragments.
Established in 1142, the abbey became an important Cistercian foundation in medieval Ireland and was later dissolved and suppressed in the 16th century during the Tudor reformation of the monasteries. Subsequent centuries saw partial reuse and decay of the structures.
The ruins sit near the River Boyne corridor, a short drive from Drogheda and within easy reach of the Dublin-Belfast corridor; the surrounding landscape is lowland agricultural country.

The usual approach is to take Irish Rail to Drogheda station (from Dublin Connolly), then a local taxi or a short local-bus/town-bus ride out toward the Collon/Mellifont area (the abbey is roughly 10 km west of Drogheda). By car from Dublin follow the M1 north and then local roads west from Drogheda to the abbey.
