Malecón Simón Bolívar is the principal riverside promenade in central Guayaquil, Ecuador, running along the north bank of the Guayas River. It is one of the city’s main public and leisure corridors.
The promenade combines landscaped open spaces, plazas, museums, restaurants and viewing points along the riverfront, providing walking routes of several kilometres and direct access to historic neighbourhoods. Public art, gardens and commercial amenities concentrate near the central stretches, making it a common place for tourism, leisure and events.
The riverfront area underwent a major urban renewal project beginning in the late 1990s that transformed older port and industrial zones into a continuous public promenade.
