Main Range National Park is a protected area in southern Queensland occupying part of the Main Range section of the Great Dividing Range. The park contains steep escarpments, rainforest pockets and several prominent peaks including Mount Superbus.

The park offers hiking, lookouts and day-walks to mountain summits and ridges, with trails that traverse subtropical and temperate rainforest at higher elevations. It is valued for its scenery, waterfalls and biodiversity and is visited by bushwalkers and nature enthusiasts.

The park preserves sections of Gondwana-era rainforest that form part of the broader World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. Management has focused on protecting remnant forests, controlling invasive species and maintaining walking infrastructure.

Situated inland from the Queensland coast in the Scenic Rim and Southern Downs region, the park lies west of coastal cities and is approached from towns such as Warwick, Toowoomba and Cunninghams Gap.

  • World Heritage connection: Contains rugged escarpments and rainforest pockets that form part of the Gondwana Rainforests World Heritage landscape.
  • Practical visiting note: Popular access points include walking tracks and lookout platforms; weather can change quickly at higher elevations so prepare for cool, wet conditions above 1,000 metres.
