Ľubovňa Castle sits above the town of Stará Ľubovňa in northern Slovakia’s Prešov Region and is a medieval fortification dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. It is a prominent local landmark that retains defensive walls, a keep and residential buildings.

Stará Ľubovňa is about 30 km north of Poprad. From Poprad take regional road 66 toward Stará Ľubovňa; the castle sits above the town centre and is a 10-15 minute uphill walk from the main square. Regular trains and buses run to Stará Ľubovňa station; from there it is a 20-25 minute walk or a short local taxi ride up to the castle hill.

• Enter through the main gate at the base of the hill to avoid the steepest climb; there is a gentler paved path from the centre of Stará Ľubovňa.
• Climb the northern tower for the best views of the Spiš and Pieniny ranges; wear sturdy shoes - the spiral stone steps are worn and uneven.
