Lublin Castle

Lublin Castle is a historic fortification on a hill in the centre of Lublin, eastern Poland, with origins dating back to the medieval period. It is a prominent civic landmark that houses museum collections and preserved interior spaces.

The site includes a fortified keep, courtyard and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, noted for its medieval polychrome frescoes dating to the 15th century. Museum displays cover regional history, archaeology and the castle’s evolving roles over centuries.

The hilltop fortress originated in the Middle Ages and was rebuilt and remodelled through Renaissance and later periods; it served as a royal and administrative centre, and at times as a prison under different regimes. Restoration and museum development have conserved historic fabric and interior decoration.

The castle crowns the Old Town area of Lublin and overlooks the surrounding urban centre, within walking distance of the city’s main square and transport hubs.
