Loschwitz Bridge

The Loschwitz Bridge is a historic steel truss road bridge in Dresden, Saxony, that spans the River Elbe between the quarters of Loschwitz and Blasewitz. It was completed in 1893 and became notable for its engineering and distinctive colour.

The bridge carries local road traffic across the Elbe and provides direct access between both riverbanks, with pedestrian walkways that give views of the river and Dresden’s riverside. Its lattice steel structure and urban setting make it a recognizable city landmark.

Constructed in the late 19th century as a roadway linking expanding suburbs, the bridge was part of Dresden’s modernization and has survived through two world wars and reconstruction periods. Its nickname and public role have made it an enduring symbol of the city.
