Llanos de Challe National Park

Llanos de Challe National Park is a protected coastal area in Chile’s Atacama Region that conserves coastal desert plains, cliffs and native plant communities. It is particularly known for its seasonal displays of wildflowers following unusual rainfall.

Travelers visit to see large seasonal blooms that can cover wide stretches of desert following winter rains, to walk short trails, and to view coastal cliffs and wildlife along the Pacific shoreline. The park’s flora are adapted to arid conditions and include species that produce vivid displays during the ‘desierto florido’ phenomenon.

The area has been designated and managed as a protected park by Chilean conservation authorities to preserve its unique coastal desert ecosystems and scenic coastal landscapes. Protection aims to balance visitor access with conservation of endemic plants and habitats.
