By car it is most commonly reached from Thessaloniki by driving east along the A2/E90 (roughly an hour to an hour and a half depending on traffic, around 80-90 km); follow signs for Amphipolis and park in or near the modern town.
If using public transport, KTEL regional buses serve Amphipolis from larger centres such as Thessaloniki and Kavala; from the Amphipolis town bus stop the lion and associated excavations are a short walk (a few hundred metres) from the centre of the town.
