Limassol Castle is a medieval fortress located in the old town of Limassol (Lemesos) on the southern coast of Cyprus and serves as a focal historic monument in the city center. The castle is built on earlier fortification foundations and today houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum.
The interior museum displays archaeological finds and medieval artefacts, including arms, ceramics and ecclesiastical objects, arranged across multiple floors. The castle retains courtyard and tower features typical of medieval fortifications and is open to visitors interested in Cyprus’s medieval history.
The present structure largely reflects medieval rebuilding phases, notably during the Lusignan period, and later modifications; it sits at the heart of Limassol’s old quarter close to the seafront and marina area.
