Liège Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Paul de Liège) is the Roman Catholic cathedral in the city of Liège, Belgium, serving as the principal church of the local diocese and a major medieval landmark. The present building is predominantly Gothic in form, with fabric dating mainly from the high and late Middle Ages.
The interior contains multiple chapels, stained glass, carved choir stalls and a church treasury that preserves medieval liturgical objects and reliquaries. Architectural highlights include Gothic vaulting, a sculpted choir area and a series of historic altarpieces and tomb monuments.
The site has hosted successive churches since the early Middle Ages, with the current Gothic fabric produced between the 13th and 15th centuries and modified in later periods. Over time the cathedral has served as both a religious centre and a repository for local ecclesiastical art and relics.
The cathedral stands in the historic centre of Liège in Wallonia, close to the Meuse river and the city’s main civic areas.
